NYC from BIKE

begin pedaling - early morning - 116 St, Spanish Harlem (loud Latino music playing from apartment windows). . .
West, on over to Columbia - erudite vibe lingering - students lounging over cups @ Hungarian cafe on Amsterdam. . .
onto Broadway.. stopped at light, pull from backpack, seal on ears, bubbly sony headphones, call up playlist on nano (electronic, other varied tunes), press play, stick in pocket, ride...
UWS - money about - can sense it.. past FAIRWAY.. Past brainy (old people kulture haven vibe) Lincoln Center.. on into Time Square, where, air turns kinda weighty - feel a cloud of oppression about - (stuff kinda gettin' old, sleepy) - save, lightened up a bit time to time, by batches of Texans and Mid-Westerners - Asians (and you name the cultures) - cams bought from Best Buy roped round necks - happy as clams, sun visors, fanny packs.. razzle dazzle lights, general bozoness.. - zainy, high volume electro tune adding a dose of hilarity to it all at points...
on into Penn Station area - oppression in air thick here too - grimey, scary - flee-asap vibes.. on into Chelsea - possibly thickest, most oppressive vibe yet - some kind of heavy.. guilt or shame or something - strangling in air.. pedal faster.. - into West Village - oppression holds pretty steady - swing left on Bleeker.. dodginess carries on a few blocks - begins subsiding as NYU crops up - students about - pretty multi-cultural thing happening.. aaaand on into East Village - Saint Marks dreariness.. smacks of coolness pockets en route Tompkins. Sq. park - loop round, bump cobble stones into Soho.. - energy up - style about - liking.. - lacks a good cafe to date - even so, has its charm - pass Apple store - over to Spring.. Elizabeth.. pass Cafe Habana - people hoping to be seen, crunching on pricey yellow corn on the kob..
Houson opens up view.. few weaves on bike for fun -
right on Ludlow.. stop at EarthMatters cafe.. chill on bench out front drinking an iced green tea w/ gaurna.. continue on.. Stanton (L.E.S. - despite its loofy graffiti and dumpy 80's, 90's vibes at points) holds award for best locay in my book (blog?).. right on Clinton - to Williamsburg Bridge.. the slow perservering pedal up long incline - song building in headphones - other bikers, bladers, whizing by in opp direction.. levels out.. and into high speed descent.. sail in kool Williamsburg - arty vibes all over.. pleasant absence of dummy skyrises and office buildings.. hints of gritty (old skool, hardcore) industrial too.. weavy flow down Bedford (ok, willyburg ties LES - just, well, it's in Brooklyn).. to verb cafe, where, park, lock, cup, Pellegrino, laptop, type this zippy bloggie - b4 hammering progress on new book. . .
read 7C book if you've yet to -
