Recently I worked at the studio of famous photographer Clifford Ross

Smack in the village: a very clean, well lit, beautiful space - huge (we're talking size of movie screens) photographs of his in frames or pinned to the walls. . .

I was there to help with last minute preparations as he and his crew rushed to get everything together and into vans - to bring to airport - for departure flight on the morrow - a photo shoot in the jungles of Brazil..

Standing in the presence of the pictures - mostly vast landscapes (e.g. river in foreground, trees leaning over it w/ reflections, snow cappy mountain in distance) it led to contemplating how all that creation came to be - who wrought all that nature into existence, the craftsmanship, intricate detail, yada, yada, yada...

the sharp clarity - blades of grass even distinguishable - really slaps it into your face - to deal with - though, subtly - in a soothing way - peaceful - more like (or, better, simultaniously), laid in your lap if you will, to pet, like a cat, purring...

Aaaaanyway.. art has that affect.. you stand by it, observe it, and clairvoyance (if it's good) enters the scenario - elicits qualities in you - surfaces responses, good or ill...

inspiring people, also, infuse you with a type of clairvoyance - draw forth this or that from your depths.. - I was with one tonight - she could have said nothing - and I'm in the hieghts - it's a vibey thing, really - that 'click' thing - inexplicable mutual understanding, pretty much. . .

on another token, Cliff brought to my mind the concept of "what we do to 'earn' $$$". . . think of it - all those nameless worker bees droning to, fro cubicle: clock in, out, day after day, year after year.. - - - while Cliff - making double (quadruple!) their salleries - soars off to exotic lands to take in, experience, capture pristine majesty - - - or how about fashion photographers - talk about a sweet gig. . .

what are you 'getting paid' to do. . . really fascinating, if you really think about it..
